& Presenters Harvest Gala & Dessert Swap: Enter a world of Magick and Mystery. We will spend our first evening together sharing in the harvest and rejoicing in our many Blessings. The bonfire dances with us as we dance to the ancient drum beats. Our feet spiral 'round as we give thanks for our abundance and send energies to those who need more and to open their awareness to their current prosperity. Our hunger will be satisfied through the gifts brought forth from each community member. The great gifts of divine desserts will be shared by All. As we partake in the great gifts that satisfy the body, we invoke the energetic gifts that feed the Soul - Joy, Laughter and Gratitude - to name but a few. Our voices, our drumbeats, our footsteps, our heartbeats, join in the energy that brings forth greater abundance and prosperity to the world. As carriers of the Divine Light, aware of our joined power, we call forth Healing, Abundance, Prosperity and Love for all. We are all one. We are asking each community member to bring a dessert to share. It could be a couple dozen cookies, a few pies or cakes or any other dessert you'd like to share. Please make sure your dessert doesn't need to be refrigerated or heated since we don't have access to these amenities at the campground. Thank you for participating! We're really looking forward to seeing the wonderful abundance that will be shared! Food Drive: Times have been hard, many of us finding it more difficult to make ends meet. It's at this time of year, the harvesting season, that we should also be thinking of others. What we give from the heart, returns to us threefold. This year, we will be having a food drive at our Mabon festival. All of the food donated at our event will be going to Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, which won the 2009 Feeding America Member of the year award. You can find out more about all of the wonderful work they are doing by going to: http://www.brafb.org/ Look for the bins placed throughout the campground for you to put your non-perishable food items into. When packing down, think of all the extra food you packed and how it could help feed a family a much needed meal. Here is a list of items the food bank is needing http://www.brafb.org/index.cfm?action=b14&id=6946,11870 If you could pick up just 1 extra food item everytime you ran into the grocery store, think of the impact your actions could make. Thank you for your support and many blessings to you all! Pagan Fashion Show: Calling all Pagan Women, Men and Children….Come! Show off your finery! Wear the outfit that speaks of your pagan ways, your most favorite gear that most expresses who you are ; your witchiest, your most shamanic, your blackest-Goth, your faery child (or hippy-child), your Renaissance / Medieval costume, your warrior outfit, your fave Halloween costume, or that clever t-shirt. Show us what you’ve made, bought, or made your own - We want to see it! Walk the catwalk, make a statement and have a blast. If you wish to participate in the Pagan fashion show, just report to Lisa at the stage 30 minutes before show time dressed and ready to go. Original music provided by Tony Bradley of Gravity Well Productions. Circle of Intentions:
When you come to Mountain Mysteries Mabon this year, you will be given a piece
of white cloth. This is part of the magic you will be able to create here at
the festival. This is your flag of intention.
Mabon is a harvest festival, and with that in mind think of what you would
like to bring in, or harvest into your life. As you must give to receive,
think of what you are willing to give up to make room for what you will be
harvesting in. For example, I may wish to be able to be more compassionate
toward others and for that I am willing to give up my feelings of
unworthiness. Put your thoughts and hearts into these flags for they are for
you.
Once you know what it is you want to give up and bring in, take your flag over
to The Tree Frog Lounge. There you will find markers to create your flag.
Draw pictures, symbols, use words...whatever it is that brings your
intention to life. This is your magic.
There will be a circle for you to hang your flag when it is done and join it's energies with the rest of the community. The flags will remain up until the end of the festival when they will be burned in the fire during closing ritual. As the fire purifies and consumes them, so it unleashes their magic. Community Ancestor Altar:
Many people, including many pagans, practice ancestor worship. This can be
as simple as lighting candles and putting out glasses of water for them or
elaborate as doing all night vigils and preparing their favorite meals. This
is done to honor family lineage and many people of varied backgrounds believe
this helps give your ancestors the ability to help you in your life.
We will be have an ancestor altar set up at the festival. This is a community
ancestor altar and will be whatever it is you make it. There will be tables
laid out and candles for you to light for your ancestors. Please bring
pictures, flowers, trinkets, and any offerings you would like to build this
altar. Keep in mind, that though this will be in a tent, all of your pictures
and other items should be weather protected. Laminating pictures or copies of
your pictures is a good way to protect images of your loved ones.
This is your altar.
Please build it with love with your community.
Feel free to spend as much time as you wish in this sacred place to connect
with you ancestors.
